Using Listeners (Adapters)
In the eiConsole a “Listener” is a type of adapter. Its task is very straight-forward. The Listener obtains data from a particular system or source and creates a transaction from it, this transaction is then passed along through the various functional Stages of the eiConsole. A system’s requirements generally dictates the type of listener (or communications protocol) you need to use. When configuring a Route you’ll need to select a Listener that is appropriate to the source system to which you’re trying to connect and retrieve data from.
In the eiConsole, to configure a Listener you select the Listener stage in the eiConsole Assembly Line. You then simply select from a drop down menu of available listener types and fill out the corresponding panel. Out-of-the-box, the eiConsole comes with a large variety of Listener Types that can meet virtually any requirement.
Note: to view all the eiConsole Listeners, click Available Listener Types.
